SPINDO Steel Pipes Support the Riau–North Sumatra Gas Transmission Pipeline Project
The development of natural gas transmission infrastructure plays an important role in strengthening Indonesia's energy connectivity and security. Expanding the national pipeline network is expected to improve natural gas distribution to support the energy needs of industries and households across different regions.
As part of its contribution to national energy infrastructure development,
PT Steel Pipe Industry of Indonesia Tbk (SPINDO) supports the
Labuhan Batu Station–Duri Facility Gas Transmission Pipeline Project,
a section of the Dumai–Sei Mangkei (DUSEM) natural gas transmission pipeline network, by supplying steel pipes for the project.
DUSEM Project to Strengthen Indonesia's Natural Gas Connectivity
The Dumai–Sei Mangkei (DUSEM) Gas Transmission Pipeline Project is one of Indonesia's National Strategic Projects (PSN), aimed at strengthening natural gas infrastructure connectivity between Riau and North Sumatra.
The DUSEM pipeline project spans approximately 541.8 kilometers and is divided into two segments. One of these is the Labuhan Batu Station–Duri Facility segment, covering approximately 262 kilometers.
The project is part of the government's efforts to integrate the national gas transmission network, often referred to as the National Gas Toll Road, which aims to connect gas transmission systems from Aceh to East Java.
Through this network development, potential natural gas supplies from upstream areas in Aceh, including the Andaman Block, are expected to be distributed more widely to support domestic energy demand.
In addition to improving regional connectivity, the gas transmission network is
expected to help reduce energy costs for industrial users, expand access to natural gas supplies, and contribute to Indonesia's energy transition toward its
Net Zero Emissions target.
SPINDO API 5L Steel Pipes for Gas Transmission Infrastructure
To support the DUSEM gas transmission pipeline project, SPINDO supplies steel pipes with
API Spec. 5L Grade L360M/X52M PSL 2 specifications.
API 5L is an internationally recognized standard that establishes technical requirements for steel pipes used in oil and natural gas transportation systems.
The L360M/X52M grade and Product Specification Level 2 (PSL 2) classification define specific material properties and product requirements under the API 5L standard. Steel pipes manufactured to these specifications can support the technical requirements of gas transmission applications, subject to the project's engineering design and operating conditions.
In natural gas transmission systems, steel pipes serve as the primary pathway for transporting gas between facilities and distribution points. Therefore, selecting pipes with appropriate technical specifications is an important consideration in pipeline infrastructure development.
Steel Pipe Transportation and Distribution for the DUSEM Project
In addition to supplying steel pipes, material transportation and distribution are important stages in supporting gas transmission infrastructure projects.
Project documentation shows steel pipes being transported by logistics vehicles and loaded onto vessels as part of the material distribution process.
These activities support the delivery of steel pipes required for the development of the DUSEM natural gas transmission pipeline network.
Through the supply of steel pipes that meet the specified product requirements, SPINDO contributes to the material needs of Indonesia's natural gas infrastructure development.
SPINDO's Contribution to Indonesia's Energy Infrastructure Development
The development of the DUSEM gas transmission pipeline represents an important step toward improving regional energy infrastructure connectivity and supporting the utilization of domestic natural gas resources.
SPINDO's participation in supplying steel pipes for this project reflects the role of Indonesia's manufacturing industry in supporting strategic infrastructure development.
By providing a range of steel pipe products for industrial, construction, and oil and gas applications, SPINDO remains
committed to contributing to the continued development of Indonesia's national infrastructure.
